How to be More Mindful During the Day:
This post will cover the small, actionable steps that you can incorporate into your daily routine, in order to master mindfulness in your daily life. At first meditation and being mindful can seem impossible, especially if you have a constantly racing mind.
Mindfulness meditation doesn’t look the same for everyone. It’s really not about sitting in a quiet room with a completely blank mind. A lot of people get hung up on the fact that they can’t completely clear their mind, get frustrated and simply give up.
Start by adding more mindfulness into your daily life, with mindful habits.
Some mindful habits include:
- Mindful eating
- Mindful breathing
- Walking meditation
- Body scanning (focusing your attention on each part of your body)
- Stretching
- Yoga
- Stop multitasking and be in the present moment of what you are doing now
You can really make anything a mindful activity with your intention and focus. Some activities to consider in order to start really bringing mindfulness into your daily routine are doing things like:
- Shower meditations/visualization exercises
- walking meditation
- guided meditations (look on youtube)
- guided visualizations
- creating your own mindful rituals and routines.
Ways to Increase Mindfulness Daily:
First, find a quiet space and eliminate any distractions. Try to focus your energy straight away from the moment you wake up on each task you are doing. Don’t look at your phone.
A morning routine will help you start your day off right and create the momentum for the rest of the day. Having a solid morning routine, where you journal, meditate, read something inspirational, go for a walk, etc. will create a base for you to have a more productive, mindful day. Everyone will have a different routine that will work best for them.
Plan your day with a schedule and stick to that schedule. When you plan out your day and you know exactly what you have to do and when you can put all your attention and focus on the present task, without the anxiety of everything else in the background….”When will I be able to get x,y,z done?”. These anxious thoughts will no longer be an issue because you’ve made a plan and scheduled a time to get each thing done.
No more multi-tasking! It might seem like you’re being more efficent, getting more done at once, but you typically just end up wasting energy and either only getting some of your task(s) done, or half-assing them. Try some simple, one-minute mindfulness exercises to start becoming more mindful.
When you’re mindful of the task at hand you can dedicate all of your energy at that moment to that thing, instead of your head and energy being fragmented in a bunch of different directions at once.
Like anything else, you need to PRACTICE mindfulness.
Your mind will wander and you’ll get off track from time to time, it’s just human nature. However, you can practice until it comes more naturally to you. Eventually, when you find yourself drifting you’ll be able to recognize it quickly and bring your attention back to being mindful and present in the moment.

Mindfulness is such an amazing tool to help with developing a positive, healthy mindset. It has so many benefits such as reducing anxiety, depression and helping people live more fulfilling lives. This post covered some of the ways you can increase mindfulness daily and start living your best life.
