Teaching your child positive self talk from the very beginning is so important. Positive affirmations for kids can help your child boost their self-confidence, help them develop a growth mindset and set them up for success long into the future.
It’s important not only to give children the tools they need to learn emotional regulation and confidence but you also need to lead by example!

You may wonder “Do children need affirmation?”. The answer is YES! Children are constantly learning and trying to figure out how they fit into the world.
By giving children positive affirmation and teaching them positive self-talk you are teaching them self-regulation, self-confidence and growth mindset.
This doesn’t mean telling a child they are good at everything but more about teaching them mistakes are okay, it’s how we learn and grow.
Bad things happen, but I am strong. I may not know how to do this yet, but I can learn. Children need the ability to self-regulate and rely on themselves for that motivation and support as they grow through life.
How to explain positive affirmations to children?
Simply put, affirmations are positive statements said in the present tense. You can introduce affirmations to a child by explaining that they are happy words to help your brain grow.
Ways to introduce affirmations to your child could begin with affirming them yourself. Statements such as “You can do hard things.” or “Mistakes mean you’re learning new things.” can help children reframe their thoughts.
Write affirmations on their mirror and help them read them each morning.
Get some printable affirmation cards and place them where the child will see them and encourage them to say the affirmation everytime they see a card.
Create a positive affirmation vision board with your child.
